Second post let’s do this! Since losing my mum, I’ve noticed compound grief has been building up in my emotions. I never really got a chance to grieve my dad, as I was solely focused on making sure my mum was okay. Then 6 months later my gran died. So I began the grieving process again of losing my gran and continuing to grieve my dad. Losing my mum a year later has shown that these emotions haven’t gone away even though I’ve presented ‘okay’ even though I’m not. Deep down, I’m not okay. So, with a little encouragement from my favourite person (my boyfriend), I’ve booked a counselling session to start the process of grieving properly. I’ve also decided to listen to EMDR bilateral audio to try and regulate my nervous system. It works surprisingly! I’ve decided to try and take control of my grief. I’m 30 in November and as much as I’m going to crave my mum, dad and gran and miss them beyond belief. I want to live a life they would be so beyond proud of. I need to do this for them and me! If anybody has any other tips for taking control of their grief, please let me know! ❤️

My parents are dead. Yep, trauma dumped in the first sentence. I noticed when my dad died (30th October 2024 – yep I hate Halloween now), that there was very little support for grievers – especially in your 20s. I was 27 when my dad died. I’m now 29 -nearing my 30th birthday. My mum rudely decided to die 28th April 2026, could she not just have held on until my 30th? like seriously? If you can’t tell, I use a lot of humour to survive my huge all consuming trauma. However, on a more serious note, I’m surviving on anti-depressants, anxiety meds and keeping busy. I’m hoping by starting this blog and talking about my experience with grief, trauma and everything in between that people will relate to this and know that they are not alone in their grief. Grief will happen to everybody at some stage in their life, nobody is immune to it. This is why I am so perplexed as to why nobody wants to talk about it. So here I am, sticking my big broken heart out on the internet to break the stigma. Let’s grieve!
